Tasks
The Director of Studies plans the curriculum and makes decisions on legal and organizational matters based on the provisions of study law (University Act, statutes of the University of Vienna, curriculum, university regulations). The Study Conference, in which both lecturers and students are represented, serves as an advisory body to the Director of Studies. The Director of Studies also acts as the spokesperson of the Vienna Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies.
Doctoral advisory boards
Doctoral advisory boards have the function of advising the head of the study program, the doctoral candidates and their supervisors. Depending on the subject area of the dissertation, the doctoral advisory board is present at the public presentations of dissertation projects and gives an opinion on them.
The members of the current doctoral advisory boards can be found here.
